VOGUE FUNDAMENTALS with CESAR VALENTINO

This all levels workshop is designed to give students a better understanding of vogue fundamentals, pop dip and spin with grace and precision. Students will learn the moves and the history from a ballroom vogue icon with 38 years of Vogue dancing experience.

The workshop will also cover traditional jazz class warm ups, across the floor exercises, flexibility, strength and core training. For the runway portion of the class, students are encouraged to bring heels. (heels are not required) Bring the energy as this is a class you won’t want to miss.

Cesar Valentino has been dancing for 45 years  and began vogue dancing in 1983. Cesar is currently celebrating 39 years of vogue dancing experience. In 1988, he quickly became a fixture in the underground ballroom and club scene where he won several coveted trophies. Cesar was also featured in one of the first ever articles about voguing in the Village Voice, was a featured dancer on the tv show the Latin Connection where he along with Michelle Visage introduced voguing on national television,  in the documentary The House Of Tres (Directed by Diane Martel). He landed a spot on the Deep In Vogue tour with Malcolm McLaren throughout Europe in 1989, appeared in music videos with artists such as Toni Braxton, Carmen Electra, and K7s  “Hi De Ho” to name a few. Cesar appeared in Jennie Livingston’s Paris is Burning documentary, Voguing, The Message, and Vogue Classique. Cesar choreographed for recording artists Tony Terry and Sweet Sensation.  Cesar has been a runway coach for upcoming and established models for more than 30 years. Cesar modeled professionally for 15 years appearing in publications Details, Vanity Fair, Blue, Gear magazine and NY fashion week.

Cesar has performed all over the world in countries such as Japan, Italy and Germany. He has served as a judge and taught vogue workshops at Funkin’ Styles Berlin Germany, Manila Philippines,Meeting Hip Hop in Sao Paolo Brazil , House Dance International, FIH 2 festival in Curitiba, Brazil and The Festival

Del Caribe in Santiago De Cuba. Cesar has appeared in tv segments about vogue history for Good Day New York, American Latino, Telemundo, eyewitness news, vh1 and NBC 6 Miami. Cesar has been presented many awards such as the Marcel Christian Legend award, the paved the way award, the ballroom gatekeeper award and the ballroom icon award. Cesar appears alongside Laverne Cox for the Smirnoff welcome home pride commercial, the NYC mayors office pride campaign, the I won’t be erased campaign, is the host and judge of Best Walk  streaming on Topic Stories, Apple TV, Roku and Amazon video. most recently appears in the feature film “I’m an Electric lampshade”as supporting actor Sin Andre and in the upcoming documentary Love is in the Legend. And most recently choreographed the off Broadway production of Bruise and Thorn. Choreographed a vogue piece for world champion figure skater Emmanuel Sandhu.
