Workshop Description:

Rhythm & Mime in Bharathanatyam is Inspired by nature - Its beauty, grace - we will explore classical Indian dance moves inspired by nature and its elements. It will also feature a section where we will be emoting a story from a popular Indian folk tale which shall give an insight into the story telling aspect of the art form.

Bharatanatyam is an Indian classical dance form that originated in southern India.Bha meaning emotion (Bhava), Ra meaning music (Raaga) , Ta meaning rhythm (Taal) and Natyam meaning dance. Thus Bharatanatyam is the dance that encompasses music, rhythm and expression. With the usage of this grammer, a bharathanatyam practitioner attempts to create essence and experience of the images that the dancer conceives in her mind. Its a dance known for its grace, purity, tenderness, poses and has a expanding vocabulary to communicate to the audience.
