FREE Summer Performance Intensive
Traditional West African with Esther Grant Walker
Saturdays 1:00 - 3:30PM August 3rd - September 21st
DESCRIPTION
Join Esther Grant-Walker for an 8 week performance intensive exploring various dance styles of West Africa. Movement and choreography will be developed based on the abilities of the intergenerational cast with a focus on technique and performance.
This experience will culminate in front of hundreds of spectators at the FREE MOTHERSHIP SIX Dance & Music Festival at the legendary Richard Rodgers Amphitheater in Marcus Garvey Park on 9/21/24.
This is a non-competitive experience for dancers of all ages and levels. You are welcome to join us at the first session to learn more with no commitment to perform.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Esther Grant Walker has been a dance educator in Harlem and throughout NYC for decades. She strongly believes in the power of community dance to bring people together, preserve intergenerational respect and honor traditions that have produced greatness in people of color.

IS IT FREE?
Participation is free thanks to our partner NYC Department of Parks & Recreation & Funding from LMCC. Costume fee is typically $50 and creative will be determined by the choreographer.
